The Drunken City
- CLIENT 98 ART COLLECTIVE
- YEAR 2025
We were tasked with designing the poster for the 98 Art Collective’s production of The Drunken City at the Brooklyn Art Haus. The poster reimagines the New York city skyline through the lens of Adam Bock’s offbeat comedy: vibrant, emotional, and a little unhinged. Each building is drawn in its own absurd, hue — referencing the distinct characters and chaotic chemistry of the cast. Nothing sits quite straight: warped silhouettes and wavy forms evoke the dizziness of a night out gone sideways.
The design was created with screen printing in mind, with each color layered one by one to build the stacked cityscape. The bold, geometric type treatment serves as a foil to the unruly skyline — with the exception of the askew “D”, which appears drunkenly jammed back into place impaled by the Empire State Building’s spire.
